worth the money

I have always thought Buck knives to be well made, American made, products and well worth the money. This fine little hunting knive is no exception. A Fish and Wildlife ranger friend of mine thought that it adequitely large enough to skin a deer if it happened to be the knife you were carrying at the time, but it is sized primarily for skinning and cleaning small game and fish. A word to the wise; it is smaller than the pictures of it on line and in certain catalogues led me to believe. Glad I got it.
Buck 102 used since 1971

I purchased my Buck 102 in 1972 and been using it ever since. It is my prefered all around knife. I have cleaned dozens of cotton tail rabbits, squirrels, panfish and catfish with the 102 over 40 years. I have also cleaned at least ten white tail deer with the 102. It is still in great condition and holds an edge that is great.

If you know how to field dress a deer, the Buck 102 is big enough to get it done. The 105 is better for deer, but this one is good enough if you need an all around knife. The shape of the blade makes for very easy work on all aspects of cleaning game.

This knife has seens lots of use, and it is still in excellent condition. It will probbaly be around to pass along to the grandkids.

At a time when I could only afford one knife, the Buck 102 was my choice. I have never been sorry. If you can only afford one knife and use it on a wide range of game and fish, I would suggest the 102. If you only hunt deer, then the 105 would be better. If you only hunt rabbits, the 102 is definitely the correct choice. Don't get the larger knife for rabbits.

You could spend more money, but I don't know how you could get a better knife.

We got this knife from my son so that he would not borrow his father's all the time. He loves it. He carries it when he is hunting or scouting out a place to go hunting. It holds a sharp edge while preparing the game for the freezer. Nice going Buck for upholding the quality of your product.
